Tourism Australia is the Federal Government statutory authority responsible for international and domestic tourism marketing as well as the delivery of research and forecasts for the sector.

Tourism Australia was ratified in the Australian Parliament on 18 June 2004 and officially commenced on 1 July 2004. The new organisation brings together the collective skills and knowledge of four separate organisations: the Australian Tourist Commission; See Australia; the Bureau of Tourism Research and Tourism Forecasting Council.

The main objectives of Tourism Australia under the Tourism Australia Act 2004 are to:

• Influence Australians to travel throughout Australia, including for events;
• Help foster a sustainable tourism industry in Australia; and
• Help increase the economic benefits to Australia from tourism.

Tourism is represented in the Federal Cabinet by the Minister for Industry, Tourism and Resources, a dedicated Minister for Small Business and Tourism, and a Parliamentary Secretary.

Tourism Australia is a statutory body subject to the Commonwealth Authorities and Companies Act 1997 (CAC Act). This recognises the commercial focus of the new body and the need for it to operate flexibly in a commercial environment.

1. Introduction

(a) In these terms and conditions, we or us means Tourism Australia.

(b) Please read these terms and conditions carefully as they apply to your use of this internet site (site). By using this site you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.

3. Content of the Site

(a) We attempt to keep the content of the site up to date.  However, we do not warrant the accuracy or currency of the content.

(b) You acknowledge that the content on the site is liable to change at any time.

7. Use of the Site Is At Your Risk

(a) Subject to paragraph (b), you use the site at your risk and everything on the site is provided to you “as is” and “as available” without warranty or condition of any kind, either expressed or implied, including, but not limited to, any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.  We exclude all representations and warranties to the fullest extent permissible under any applicable law.

(b) If a jurisdiction does not allow the exclusion of implied warranties in accordance with paragraph (a) but allows limitations of a certain maximum extent then we limit our warranties to that extent.

8. Limitation of Liability

(a) To the extent permitted by law our aggregate liability to you, whether for breach of these terms or in negligence or in any other tort or for any other common law or statutory cause of action arising in relation to these terms, the site or the content is limited to the following, the choice of which is at our sole discretion:

(i) In the case of goods any one or more of the following:

   (A) the replacement of the goods or the supply of equivalent goods;

   (C) the payment of the cost of replacing the goods or of acquiring equivalent goods; or

11. General Provisions<

(a) If any part of this agreement is held to be unenforceable, the unenforceable part must be given effect to the greatest extent possible and the remainder will remain in full force and effect.

However there are times when we may need information from you such as when you register for events, or memberships, for billing purposes, or in connection with community postings such as message boards or feedback to us or to receive information from us. No attempt will be made to identify users or their browsing activities except in the unlikely event of an investigation, where a law enforcement agency may exercise a warrant to inspect server logs. The statistics and log files may be preserved indefinitely and used at any time and in any way necessary to prevent security breaches and to ensure the integrity of the information supplied by Tourism Australia.

In general on Tourism Australia websites, IP addresses (the Internet address of a computer) are logged to track a user's session while the user remains anonymous. We analyse this data for certain trends and statistics, such as which parts of our site users are visiting and how long they spend there.
